Local laundromat making ‘plastic-free’ living accessible

19, Jul 2019

Whether it’s a plastic water bottle, packaging, sandwich wrapper, or the stationery covering our desks, it’s hard to escape plastic in our everyday lives, at both work and home. Shocking statistics estimate that there are more than five trillion pieces of plastic waste in our oceans and a truckload of plastic waste enters our oceans every minute. Plastic pollution is an issue that has an impact on us all.

Becoming more eco-conscious and sustainable has just become even easier thanks to the Milton Keynes based business, Bubbles Laundromat. The award-winning laundromat is not only taking steps to make its processes’ more sustainable but have introduced new retail ranges to help the people of Milton Keynes adopt a ‘plastic-free’ mindset.

You can now join the growing refill movement with the eco-friendly, refillable household cleaning product brand, FILL, that the independent business stocks. Instead of getting us to be green after we consume – by recycling – through FILL Bubbles is intervening earlier in the purchasing cycle to tackle the hugely wasteful business of packaging. From kitchen cleaner and washing up liquid to hand soap, all the FILL products come in 500ml screen glass printed bottles that you can fill repeatedly from the bulk supply – meaning no plastic packaging being thrown away.

Other ‘plastic-free’ retail ranges invested in by the business include the eco-friendly toilet paper ‘Who Gives a Crap’. Made with 100% recycled paper or forest friendly bamboo you can be sure this paper is good for you and the environment too. Plus, they donate 50% of their profits to help build toilets for those in need.

Donnalee Andrews founder of Bubbles Laundromat comments: “As a business owner I feel it’s our responsibility to lead the change, so plastic-free living becomes easily accessible and the norm – that’s why we’ve introduced these retail ranges to offer our customers easy swaps to what they would purchase in their weekly shops.”

“We’re not saying we’ve solved the plastic crisis but certainly believe a few simple plastic-free swaps will start to reduce your plastic footprint and journey to bigger swaps in all areas of your work and home lives,” Donnalee adds.

The new sustainable retail products add to already extensive offering at Bubbles Laundromat – who have two sites in Milton Keynes and one in Northampton – including delivery & collection laundry service, ironing and commercial laundry contracts for all business laundry needs.
