Free mindfulness and yoga classes to help businesses kick-start wellness programmes in 2020

18, Nov 2019

As another working year comes to a close, businesses across Milton Keynes are enjoying office parties to show gratitude to their employees for working hard throughout the year. Christmas parties bring the workforce together which boosts team morale and feelings of unity and belonging. These ‘feel good’ endorphins result in employees ending the year on a high and mean they head back into work after the Christmas break with a positive mindset.

Aside from the annual festive party, looking after staff welfare across the entire year is becoming increasingly important for mental wellbeing and employee satisfaction.

According to Public Health England, in the UK, 14.3 million absence days each year are due to stress, depression and anxiety. With one in six adults experiencing a common mental health disorder every week, it’s clear employers need to take action and include welfare as part of their 2020 business plans.

Employee welfare has often been the responsibility of HR rather than forming part of the overall business plan. This has changed in recent years as employers have a significant role in supporting the mental wellbeing of employees and have started in integrate wellness schemes to improve mental health, concentration and help reduce stress and anxiety.

Whitespace Yoga & Wellbeing Studio, based in Stony Stratford, has been dedicated to improving the wellbeing of people for over nine years and is offering businesses the opportunity to kick-start their employee wellness 2020 goals by offering two free classes on Blue Monday – which is known as the most depressing day of the year.

In a bid to help banish the blues, on Monday 20th January, Whitespace Studio will be opening up its doors to inspire and encourage more people to put their wellbeing back to the top of the priority list. There will be two free classes to choose from, a yoga class at 11.45am and a meditation class at 4.30pm – both with a free ‘Guide to Relaxation’ to take away. The classes are open to all levels and are designed to calm the mind and energise from within, leaving people ready to take on the rest of January.

Businesses can offer employees the chance to take an extended lunch break to enjoy a free yoga class – or leave the office early to attend the free meditation class. These free sessions give employees time to switch off from everyday stresses, feel healthier and bring a sense of well-being to apply into their work-life.

Spaces are limited and pre-booking is recommended. Businesses or employees can request free spaces by emailing [email protected] Through Yoga, Mindfulness and Pilates, Whitespace Studio has helped to improve the health and wellbeing of over 10,000 residents in Milton Keynes over the last nine years and continues to do so with a variety of over 55 classes each week to suit all ages and abilities.
